About this list
A few Prague clubs and events say outright that beginners are welcome. TJ Kobylisy and ŠK Praha-Smíchov run training groups for children who are starting out, and ŠK Na Smetance in Vinohrady holds Šachování Na Smetance, a series of rapid tournaments meant for less experienced players.
Among one-day events, the Letňany chess tournament of the Prague 18 district is free of charge, the Turnaj generací in the Prague 5 district office is open to players of any age and strength, and the Holešovice tournament of the university chess club has an open group beside its rated one. The girls' series Šachové hvězdičky in Krč welcomes beginners too.
